Wyatt ave

Boarding house including 27 units

Belrose, NSW

DA pending

Budget $4.9m

Platform designed a boarding house sited at the edge of Belrose, NSW, in a quiet bushland setting overlooking the Garigal National Park. The house contains 27 self sufficient lodger rooms of 25 sqm each and includes extensive indoor and outdoor communal areas with sweeping views over part of the national park called Fireclay Gully. Each room is provided with a private kitchenette and an ensuite, giving lodgers a degree of flexibility.

The site grades steeply down from Wyatt ave towards north, which proved to be a challenge to the design process as it was important to minimise excavation to only a necessary minimum and to adhere to the strict 8.5m height limit, while sustaining floor levels as rational as possible, respecting accessibility and built costs.

The DA is recommended for approval.
